Reflecting on 2019

1/8/2020

Comments

The end of a year signals the start to a new beginning. Where anything and everything is possible; where achievement awaits only the ambitious and hard working. With 2019 ending, we like to look back on our failures and mistakes. Just because we’ve lost our way doesn’t mean that we are lost forever. In the end, it’s not the failures that define us so much as how we respond to them. We grow by making our own mistakes and taking them in stride. And from mistakes come reflections.

Dear Reader,
I read these reflections frequently; sometimes on a daily basis. They remind me of my past mistakes, weaknesses, and things I need to improve on so I can try to never commit them again and ultimately grow from them. These are the rules I try to live by, but I always keep adding and my beliefs are continuously changing.

  • What’s yours is yours and know your worth.
  • Good enough is not good.
  • Don’t have your actions cause negative ripples.
  • When you are up, get out.
  • Stop lying, it’s only hurting yourself.
  • Always have control and be disciplined.
  • Think of the worst outcomes possible and the worst case scenarios, but do not act on them.
  • Always be civil and kind minded.
  • Don’t be afraid of confrontation. People are more afraid of you. Express power.
  • Ask yourself before you do something about what can go wrong.
  • Don’t share more than you need unless asked. Keep your secrets and personal information to yourself.
  • Always be the first one in and the last one out.
  • Make them fear me.
  • Deny yourself of pleasure and grow stronger.
  • Think about the future.
  • Do not try to prove yourself or show off to others. Your confidence and sense of self will do that for you.
  • Nobody will ever tell me no again. I am going to make sure of that.
  • If you don’t get to everything in life, you won’t get to everything in life.
  • Do the right thing, do my best work, and stay balanced.
  • Be careful with assuming everybody has the same regard for your standards and the behaviors you value.
  • Remind yourself that getting into the heads of others can help you predict the world around you.
  • You have to focus on your path right now. You need to do you because you are on a mission and unfortunately there is only so much time. Once you’re on the top there will be plenty of time for those other things.
  • You are never going to know when I am having a bad day.
  • Smile and speak in a friendly tone of voice always.
  • Things are always just right the way that they are.
  • It doesn’t mean you’ve given up on the pleasures of life; you’ve replaced them with even greater pleasures.
  • I can tackle the negative indirectly by focusing on the positive.
  • I can control my emotions because what I feel is always an outcome of what I think.
  • Even the Angel of Death could not overpower him.
  • And even if the entire world tells you “you are righteous”, you should consider yourself like a wicked person.
  • The world doesn’t lack motivated people. It lacks people with the drive to follow through.
  • Everybody else is too worried about themselves to really care what you do.
  • Happy people don’t put other people down.
  • Never feel sorry for yourself.
  • Never have someone’s actions dictate how you act.
  • I know everything in my life is there to test me and make me better and stronger.
  • Don’t express weakness to others.
  • Stop overthinking things.
  • Only weak people get upset, complain, and give up.
  • Patience and restraint.
  • Do not have regret.
  • Don’t try to validate and don’t try to prove something.
  • Think before you do or speak.
  • Don’t act on impulse.
  • Always be calm and composed.
  • Think about something positive in every situation
  • Don’t take things personal.
  • Because I love myself so much, I only want what’s best for me. I control my actions, I choose my words wisely, and the value I add to my knowledge, personality, and appearance is my main goal.
  • Analyze and think about your daily interactions and behavior.
  • Do not limit yourself.
  • Get more pleasure from giving than from the outcome your giving creates.
  • Forgive and forget.
  • You have to love yourself in order to be loved.

Observers trying to decide what a man is like look closely at his actions. But you all have the pleasure in looking at his thoughts too.
